Budaun: Two persons and a child sustained severe burns as a high-tension power cable fell on them on the Kakrala-Alapur road, the police said on Sunday. The wire fell when the two persons 55-year-old Kaisar Ali and 58-year-old Sakir Ali, were to their guava field on a motorcycle. Both of them died on the spot. A child who was on the road suffered injuries.

The incident sparked anger among the residents of the area. They said that the accident occurred because the cable had been put on a wooden stick and that the power department was responsible for it. According to superintendent of police Amit Kishor Srivastava, the circle officer was sent to the spot to investigate the case. Action will be taken against the guilty on the grounds of the family members of those who died in the incident.
