New Delhi: The Center said on Friday that orders have been placed for 2.22 crore Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), of which 1.43 crore will be manufactured by domestic manufacturers.
This step has been taken in an effort to promote indigenous production of these safety devices used in handling Covid-19. PD Vaghela, head of the Empowered Group-3 on the subject related to Covid-19 in the country, told a press conference that there are about 19,398 ventilators available in the country and orders for 60,884 more ventilators, out of which 59,884 will be made by domestic manufacturers.
