E-commerce companies will be able to sell non-essential goods
New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday clarified that barber shops and salons would be allowed to open in the Green and Orange zones in the third phase of the lockdown starting May 4. Apart from this, e-commerce companies will also be able to sell non-essential goods in these areas. The Home Ministry on Friday extended the lockdown by two weeks to 17 May. This has relaxed many restrictions in the Green and Orange zones. A spokesman for the ministry said that there would be no ban on the sale of non-essential goods by e-commerce companies in the Green and Orange zones.
He said that barber shops and salons would also be allowed in these areas. These exemptions will take effect from May 4 when the third phase of lockdown begins. E-commerce companies in the Red Zone have been allowed to sell only essential commodities. Barber shops and salons are not allowed to open in the Red Zone. In the Green, Orange and Red zones, liquor shops are allowed to be sold at shops that will be located separately and in the Red Zone these shops should not be located in markets or malls.
At liquor stores, customers must make at least six feet (two yards) from each other and ensure that no more than five people are present at the shop. On the permission of domestic helpers in the Red Zone, a Home Ministry official said that the RWA has to take a decision regarding the movement of outsiders. But the health protocol should be maintained by the domestic helpers as well as the employers and if any untoward happens, it will be the responsibility of the person who hired the domestic helpers.
