New Delhi: Lockdown is in place across the country to prevent infection of Corona virus and due to this, students, tourists and pilgrims are stranded in different states apart from laborers. The central government has allowed special trains to run these people to reach the home state. The decision was taken in the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, which included many officials, apart from PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.
The Railway Ministry has issued instructions for all the zones asking them to find out their demand from the states. Apart from this, the Central Government has also issued guidelines for travel in trains, which will be necessary to follow.
10 special things related to shramik special train
- Special trains will be run to point to point at the request of the respective state governments as per standard protocol for sending and calling stranded persons.
- Ministry of Railways will appoint senior officers as nodal officers in coordination with State / UTs for their movement.
- Passengers traveling from one state to another must be screened and only those who do not have symptoms will be allowed to travel in the train.
- The state government will have to take passengers to the railway station by a sanitation bus and it will be mandatory to take care of social distancing during this time.
- After arriving at the destination, the State Government will receive and screen the passengers. With this, the state government will also have to make arrangements for quarantine of passengers, if needed.
- States sending passengers will make arrangements for their food and water. Along with this, passengers will be given food by the railways in long route trains.
- Apart from the migrant workers and students stranded at various places, pilgrims, tourists and other persons will be allowed to travel in special trains run by the Ministry of Railways.
- It will be mandatory for all passengers to follow the rules of social distancing. In addition, all passengers must use a face cover or face mask.
- Guidelines for the sale of tickets will be issued by the Railways. Railways will further issue detailed guidelines for social distancing and other security measures within stations, platforms and trains.
- Passengers traveling by trains can be encouraged to use the Arogya Setu App, through which their health status will be monitored.
