Court sends Umar Khalid to judicial custody till October 22 in UAPA case

New Delhi: JNU alumnus leader Umar Khalid, arrested under UAPA in Delhi violence, has been sent to judicial custody till 22 October by the court.

JNU alumni leader Umar Khalid, arrested for plotting and instigating violence in North East Delhi violence, has been remanded to judicial custody till October 22 by the court. Special Cell of Delhi Police investigating the Delhi violence case has registered a case under UAPA along with several sections on Omar.

After this section is imposed, the bail of the person becomes quite difficult. A Delhi court has rejected the plea of ​​Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) alumnus leader Omar Khalid seeking permission to visit his family during police custody.

Umar has been arrested under the stringent anti-terrorism law, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Khalid will remain in police custody till October 22 in connection with a major conspiracy of communal violence in North East Delhi in February. He was arrested on 13 September and the next day the court handed him over to the police for questioning, saying that this was an appropriate case of police custody. Police had said that she wanted to confront him in this case with a document of 11 lakh pages.
