New Delhi: The practice of ‘Durbar Transfer’ between the two capitals of Jammu and Kashmir has now been abolished. After 149 years, this practice has now been abolished. Along with this, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday also canceled the housing allocation given to the employees.
The officials have been asked to vacate their quarters in both the capital cities within three weeks. On June 20, the Lieutenant Governor had announced that the Jammu and Kashmir administration had completely switched over to the e-office system, thus ending the practice of doing ‘darbar transfer’ twice a year.
He had said, “Now both the secretariats of Jammu and Srinagar can function normally for 12 months. This will save the government Rs 200 crore per year, which will be used for the welfare of the underprivileged sections.
