Realme verified that the next flagship will be part of the new series, Realme Race.

Smartphone company Realme has announced an association with Qualcomm to use the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset. They said that they are working on the Realme Race flagship device, but this is only a codename. It is still not out what this device is commercially called. But the Realme China president and vice president, Xu Qi Chase has confirmed that the Realme Race will be a part of a “brand new series”.

Chase shared a post about the Realme Race device. In his post on Weibo, Chase said that the Race is just a codename and that the brand new series is going to be “super cool”. These words are translated from his post in Mandarin. Chase has also confirmed that the Realme Race will be launched in 2021, which is evident at this point but also a little vague. Since the Realme official did not provide us with a timeline, the launch date of the Realme Race is something that leaks might shed light on. Realme might launch the device around the same time as Oppo, and other companies will launch their Snapdragon 888-powered phones.

In February 2020, Realme’s first flagship phone launched, i.e., X50 Pro 5G. A leak suggested that Oppo has given away its Ace moniker to Realme now. Ace used to be a part of the Reno series, known for bringing the first 65W fast charging phone and successive ones. Oppo then made Ace a standalone series torn off from Reno. It launched Oppo Ace and Ace 2 smartphones, the latter to have been launched earlier this year. And now the parent company may have transferred the series to Realme, which might be right because Chase has just confirmed X60 Pro is unlikely. So, the Realme Race might end up getting the Realme Ace name.

A render of a mysterious Realme phone has cropped up on Weibo, making people think that it might be the Realme Race device that is currently under development.

  • The device has a square-shaped camera island with at least three sensors, one of them having a 64MP lens.
  • Towards the end of the side, there is a branding that reads Power Design.
  • Now, these terms refer to the new pattern that uses three colours to form a flask-like shape on the back.
  • On the right side, there is just a power button, which means the volume rocker and any other button might be on the left side of the smartphone.
  • The details about the charging ports, audio jack, and speakers are not clear from the image. The fingerprint sensor is also going to be integrated under the display.

For the specifications, GSMArena shared a screenshot of the About phone page of the Realme Race device, which gave away some information:

  • The Realme Race could come with the Snapdragon 888 chipset, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0.
  • The model number of this device was mentioned as RMX2022.

Apart from these things, there is nothing else known about the specifications of the device.
