41 new cases of Covid-19 found in CISF

New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Wednesday reported 41 new cases of corona virus infection, most of them from Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSEL) unit. The CISF unit deployed in it has reported 38 cases of corona virus.

GRSEL is a strategically important warship building establishment located on the banks of the Hooghly River. Which meets the naval and Coast Guard’s combat requirements. The CISF was deployed here in 2016 to protect this establishment from terrorism. All cases except one have been reported in the last 24 hours.

A 55-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) rank officer posted in this unit died on Monday due to corona virus. The late officer of the force was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata. On May 5, he was confirmed to be infected with the disease. So far a total of six deaths have occurred due to the disease in the Central Armed Police Forces. Maximum three of these deaths occurred in the CISF while two died in the Border Security Force and one in the Central Reserve Police Force.

With 41 new cases of corona virus, 109 people in the force with 1.62 lakh personnel are now in the grip of the disease. Of these, the force has 28 cases in the unit stationed at Mumbai International Airport, five in the unit stationed at Ahmedabad Airport and three at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
