BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra hospitalised after Covid-19 symptoms showed

New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra is admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram after symptoms of Covid-19 were showed. On Thursday (28 May) Patra has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The BJP leader had symptoms of Covid-19.

45-year-old Sambit Patra is known for his eloquence in the news channels debates. However, on several occasions he had witnessed heated arguments with leaders of opposing parties. Before joining politics, Sambit Patra was a successful doctor.

In 2002, Patra did a Master of Surgery (MS) in General Surgery from SCB Medical College affiliated to Utkal University in Cuttack. Earlier, he studied MBBS in 1997 from VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla in Sambalpur, Odisha. In 2003, he qualified UPSC Combined Medical Services and started serving as a Medical Officer at Hindu Rao Hospital in Malka Ganj, Delhi.

In 2012, he contested the municipal elections from Kashmiri Gate in Delhi as a BJP candidate but he did not succeed in this.

In 2010, he was appointed the spokesperson of the BJP’s Delhi unit. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he campaigned fiercely for the BJP. Sambit Patra was made the party’s national spokesperson after the BJP came to power.
