The world continues the challenge to fight against deadly virus, Covid and recently Chinese scientists from Wuhan claimed to found a new covid variant. They issued a report and warning about the new variation of coronavirus named NeoCov. This newly found virus is reported to be more dangerous and has a risk of higher infections.

According to the report, the NeoCov variant was detected in South Africa. Several media sites have picked up on this story. This variation has been connected to the MERS-COV respiratory illness.
As per the reports, NeoCoV is comparable to SARS-CoV-2, a virus that causes COVID-19 in humans. According to scientists, NeoCoV was discovered in a bat population. The symptoms of this novel type are similar to those of SARS-CoV-2, including respiratory difficulties, fever, and cough.
According to a website bioRxiv, NeoCoV and its near sibling PDF-2180-CoV can infect people too. However, MERS-CoV belongs to the Beta-CoV (Merbecoviruses) lineage C, which poses a significant hazard because of its high case-fatality rate of roughly 35%.
“Our work suggests the first occurrence of ACE2 usage in MERS-related viruses,” the researchers wrote in the article, “throwing light on a prospective bio-safety threat of the human emergence of an ACE2-using “MERS-CoV-2″ with high fatality and transmission rate.”

Because neither SARS-CoV-2 anti-sera nor ten tested anti-MERS-CoV nanobodies can cross-inhibit the infection caused by these two viruses, immunity triggered by prior infection or vaccination with other coronaviruses may be insufficient to protect humans from NeoCoV and PDF-2180-CoV infections, the researchers concluded.
