New Delhi: Due to Corona virus, the current schedule of the IPL has now shifted almost two weeks ahead (18 days). It was informed by the BCCI that we have decided to postpone it by taking precautions with Novel Corona Virus Covid-19. Now the tournament will start on 15 April instead of 29 March. Earlier it was being said that the IPL would be played in an empty stadium (without spectators) on its pre-determined schedule. But the franchisees refused the match without an audience. After this, BCCI officials have decided that it is better to postpone the tournament for about two weeks.
Now, if the new IPL schedule is released, then there will be more number of double header (two matches in a day). Earlier this year, the number of double header bouts in the IPL was reduced. But after this change, to compensate for the matches of the IPL which were to be held in the first two weeks, now after April 15, they will be compensated by playing double headers two or three days a week.
Earlier today, the Delhi government also made it clear today that due to Corona virus, IPL matches in Delhi will not be with the audience. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has made it clear that all the crowded sports events including the Delhi crowd gathering will be canceled.
