Non-willful murder case filed against Maulana Saad

New Delhi: Non-willful murder case (section 304) has been registered against Maulana Saad Kandhalvi, the leader of tablighi jamaat. Police said on Wednesday that this step has been taken after some of the people who participated in the Tabligi Jamaat programme died due to corona virus. According to police, Maulana Saad organized a religious programme in Nizamuddin Markaz last month, despite the guidelines of the Center for Social Distance to control this deadly disease.

On March 31, an FIR was lodged against the cleric at the Crime Branch police station on the complaint of Nizamuddin police station in-charge. Police said that initially a case was registered against him for organizing the event. A police officer said that section 304 (non-willful murder) of the IPC was included in the FIR against him after several people involved in the Tabligi Jamaat program died due to corona virus. A case has been registered against some foreigners participating in this program for violation of visa rules.

The FIR lodged against the Tabligi Jamaat incident states that the Delhi Police approached the Nizamuddin Markaz officials on March 21 and reminded them of the government’s order that more than 50 people were involved in any political or religious event was banned. It added that despite repeated efforts, the organizers of the event did not inform the Department of Health or any other government agency in this regard and deliberately defied government orders. Thousands of people participated in this program and many of them spread the corona virus infection to others.
