You can still prevent the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic

Dear non-essential travelers,

I am writing to you in the form of an article or blog based on my experience of staying back at home for the last 16 months. It has been a roller-coaster ride for me when my relative passed away in the first wave of the pandemic and I had to rush to hospitals and cremation grounds to do the last rites last year. A few months later, I lost two of my elderly relatives in a single month as they left this world due to their old-age-related issues.

I thought the year 2021 would be a good one but I was saddened when two of my relatives passed away in the second wave of the pandemic between April to June this year. I couldn’t stop myself but just cry and get emotional thinking about the immediate family members of the people who have lost their lives in this pandemic.

Reading news on a daily basis about the pandemic has made me more vulnerable emotionally and whenever a phone ring comes or a WhatsApp message pops up, I just wish that it should not be bad news of someone’s death or illness in my family or social circle. The negative incidents of my life since the last year have made me stick to the policy of “staying home and being safe” and “avoiding unnecessary travel”.

So, even though the pandemic seems to have reduced with the number of coronavirus cases, I still think I should observe this restricted travel life at least for the next 3 months and see if the third wave can be prevented by my decision to go out only when the necessity arises. As we don’t have any festivals this year as per our traditions, I would suggest people have a low-key celebration in memory of those departed souls whose families are still recuperating from the losses of their loved ones.
