IIMT University Paves the Way in Providing Accessible Education to Girls

To promote education for the girl child, IIMT Ganganagar Meerut has decided to waive the fees of one girl out of two sisters studying in the university. This makes IIMT University the first educational institution which has upheld the principles and values of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath under the education for all scheme being promoted by the UP Government.

To promote female enrolment, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered institutions to provide cost exemptions to female students. In a recent notification, CM Yogi Adityanath announced that if two sisters are enrolled in the same private school, the institution can cancel one of their fees.

According to the chief minister, if the private school does not waive the costs, the state education department will make arrangements to pay the expenses for that girl kid. Many school dropouts have been recorded around the country as a result of the COVID-19-driven economic downturn. Aside from that, the state is giving Rs 3900 crores in scholarships. Fee waiver requests have been coming in from all around the country, not just Uttar Pradesh.

The All-India Parents Association (AIPA) has petitioned the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to eliminate board exam registration costs for students in classes 10 and 12, particularly those from government institutions and those from low-income families.

Chairman Yogesh Mohanji Gupta, while delivering a speech at a function organized at IIMT, mentioned the importance of providing education to girls and the initiative taken by the UP Government regarding the same. Considering this, IIMT University decided to waive fees for one of the siblings in the case of two female siblings studying at the same university. This will ensure higher retention rates of females in college and, in turn, improve the education rate.

This isn’t the first time IIMT has provided accessible education. Last year, deserving students were provided education free of cost in a scholarship program devised. Further, during the pandemic, students who lost the bread earners in their families were given a fee waiver, allowing them to continue their education without any hindrance. IIMT fully supports the aim of Yogi Adityanath in improving female education, and the university strives towards providing quality education for all.
