US moves to restrict stay of Chinese journalists to 90 days

Washington: The Trump administration is considering restricting Chinese journalists’ stay in the US to 90 days and extending it again for the same number of days. This information was given in the federal notification. The proposal of the Ministry of Home Security is only on limited duration visas for students, researchers and foreign journalists.

According to the notification issued on Friday, the deadline for foreign journalists to stay is generally 240 days and after that it is extended for the same number of days. Journalists coming from China will be given US visa, which will be for 90 days only.

The parties have to reply to this government notification in 30 days. Macau Special Administrative Region passport holders are exempted from this. For Chinese journalists, the limit for rescheduling is only 90 days. Foreign journalists and their dependents will have to leave the country immediately after the expiry of the I visa or cancellation of the renewal application.
