New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved several important decisions to increase the availability of medical personnel and encourage them to deal with the ever-increasing challenge of the corona epidemic.
In a meeting on Monday, Mr. Modi reviewed the growing need for adequate human resources to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic. Many such decisions were approved in the meeting which would increase the availability of medical personnel in Covid Duty to a great extent.
As a major decision, it was decided to postpone the NEET-PG examination by at least 4 months and this examination will not be held before 31 August 2021. Apart from this, after the announcement of the examination, students will be given at least one month’s time before it is conducted. With this, a large number of qualified doctors will be available for performing covid duty. The personnel providing services in Covid management will be given priority in the upcoming regular government recruitment on completion of minimum 100 days of Covid duty.
Apart from this, it was also decided to allow medical interns to be placed in Covid Management Duty under the supervision of their faculty as part of the internship rotation. The services of final year students of MBBS can be availed by the faculty after their proper orientation. They can be used to provide services such as tele-counseling and monitoring of patients with mild symptoms of Covid under the supervision of student faculty. This will reduce the workload on the existing doctors engaged in Covid duty and will also give a big boost to the efforts to give priority.
