According to a statement released by the Ministry of Labour, workers in various industries, including manufacturing, household labour, street selling, and fishing, have also registered with the portal. According to official sources, large numbers of migrant workers are employed in several industries, and they may take advantage of the government’s numerous social security and employment-based programmes by registering with the e-shram portal.

While the Labour Ministry launched this portal two months ago intending to register casual workers in unorganised sectors across the country to make them beneficiaries of the ministry’s various social sector schemes, it has received a positive response from several large states, and it is keen to attract more workers from union territories as well as smaller states such as Meghalaya, Manipur, Goa, and Chandigarh.

According to current data, 4.09 crore employees have signed up for the platform. Around half of the recipients are women, while the remaining 49.98 per cent are men. It’s heartening that an equal number of men and women participated in this campaign. According to the statement, there has been a weekly improvement in registrations by gender, with men and women employees enrolling in similar numbers.
