Devendra Fadnavis Alleges Underworld Link for Nawab Malik

Devendra Fadnavis, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister who promised a post-Diwali “probe” on state Minister Nawab Malik, kept his word today. In a news conference, the BJP leader reiterated his prior claim that Mr Malik has criminal ties and offered what he terms “evidence” of the link.

Mr Fadnavis claims that Nawab Malik made a real estate transaction with an underworld figure convicted in the 1993 Mumbai bombings. “On LBS Road in Kurla, there is a 2.80-acre land known as Goawala complex. Solidus Investments Private Limited is the registered owner of this land. This firm has ties to Nawab Malik’s family. He worked for the corporation as well, but quit after becoming a minister. This land was purchased for Rs. 30 lakhs from mafia figures. Salim Patel is the aide of mobster Dawood Ibrahim and was Haseena Parkar’s (Dawood’s sister) driver. Haseena Parkar purchased the assets through Salim Patel after Dawood escaped.

“This is an open portal to the underworld. You’re doing business with the people who delivered the RDX, the people who plotted the bombings? All of this would be sent to the appropriate authorities, as well as to Sharad Pawar, so that he is aware of what his Minister has done “Mr. Fadnavis stated. Nawab Malik had previously claimed that Devendra Fadnavis had starred in a music video funded by a drug pusher presently doing time in prison. Mr Fadnavis’ remark at the time was “laughable.”

Mr Malik, according to the BJP politician, was only attempting to exert pressure on the Narcotics Control Bureau, or NCB, to have the anti-drugs agency lower the charge sheet against his son-in-law. Sameer Khan, the son-in-law of a Maharashtra cabinet member, was detained by the NCB earlier this year in a narcotics case and later given bail by a court. The Minister has recently made a number of startling charges against the BJP, suggesting that the two parties conspired to develop the state’s narcotics trade.
