The United States has been reporting a huge rise in infections and coronavirus-related hospitalizations that are mainly due to the highly contagious Omicron variant. After the United States has reported 1.35 million cases of COVID-19 lately, the health expert who works as the infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci shared that the country is going through a very difficult time and it will transition itself to live with the COVID-19 as a known disease that can be managed. Fauci stated that Omicron has a specific degree of efficiency and transmissibility that will almost find everyone and affect them.

Meanwhile, scientists are finding out signs that the Omicron-driven coronavirus wave may have risen in the United Kingdom and the US may be following the same case. On Monday, Britain reported 1,42,224 infections as per the government data. It is also found that on Tuesday, Britain had recorded 1,20,821 new cases of coronavirus disease. So, the experts are of the view that there is yet a lot of uncertainty over the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Paul Hunter who works as a professor of medicine at the University of East Anglia in Britain stated that there is a certain decrease of COVID-19 cases in the UK, however, they want to see the cases fall much below. The World Health Organization (WHO) mentioned in a technical briefing that the overall risk that is associated with Omicron is quite high due to various reasons. The UN health agency gave a warning that a quick increase in COVID-19 cases will lead to a rise in hospitalizations, which may be an overwhelming pressure on the health systems and can make things worse for everyone’s health.
