The inauguration event will be organized at 4 pm through video conferencing as per the statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Modi shared on Twitter on Tuesday that the new medical colleges will be in sync with the health infrastructure and provide budget-friendly healthcare services to the people living in Tamil Nadu.

The colleges have been built at a cost of almost Rs. 4,000 crore of which Rs. 2,415 crores has been provided by the union government. And the remaining funds have been given by the state government. The 11 districts where these medical institutes have been set up include Virudhunagar, Nilgiris, Thiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram, Krishnagiri, Tiruppur among others. There will be a total strength of 1,450 seats in the 11 new medical institutions.

The institutes have been set up under the central government’s scheme called ‘Establishing of New Medical Colleges attached with existing district/referral hospital’. Under this scheme, medical colleges are established in districts that don’t have a government or private medical college.

Therefore, it is interesting to note that the new campus of CICT has been completely funded by the central government and has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 24 crores. The campus has 3 storeys and it is built with a large library, multimedia hall, e-library and seminar halls.

As per the PMO statement, the new campus has been developed in association with PM Modi’s vision to protect and save the Indian heritage and support classical languages.

Putting some light on how CICT functions, the statement further added that it supports classical Tamil language by conducting research activities in order to set up the ancientness and uniqueness of the Tamil language. The institute also has a large collection of above 45,000 ancient Tamil books and it also provides its students a fellowship, among others.
