Yogi Adityanath cabinet ministers Swami Prasad Maurya and Dharam Singh Saini joined the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow on Friday in the presence of party head, Akhilesh Yadav.
Bhagwati Sagar, Vinay Shakya, Mukesh Verma, and Roshan Lal Verma were among the former legislators from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who attended the ceremony.

Sagar is a Kanpur lawmaker, Shakya is from Bidhuna, Roshan Lal Verma is from Tilhar, and Mukesh Verma, a BJP MLA from Shikohabad, has joined the Samajwadi Party. Yadav also greeted Chaudhary Amar Singh, a Shoratganj MLA from the BJP’s Apna Dal (S).
While welcoming Maurya and Saini to the party, Yadav draped them with a red turban that is symbolised as SP colour.
Saini took the oath and ensured that Akhilesh Yadav would be UP’s next CM and also PM in 2024. Maurya also stated in the group that it is the day of the ‘Samajwad’ (socialism) and Ambedkarvaad (BR Ambedkar’s philosophy).

Two of the three BJP ministers who just resigned from the government were on stage, while the third, Dara Singh Chauhan was not present in the ceremony.
Over the last two days, at least eight BJP MLAs have resigned, including three ministers and for BJP, it’s not a big deal.
