It has been more than six months that Bharat Biotech’s North American partner has submitted Covaxin for urgent use approval from Health Canada. For the unaware, Health Canada is an agency that takes the decisions with regards to vaccines for its people. The agency recently shared how the review of the Covaxin is still going on and it is yet to come to a final decision with regards to its approval for the common people.

It was on 30 June 2021 when Covaxin’s submission in Canada was made by the Canadian company of Bharat Biotech’s partner, which is the American company called Ocugen. But unfortunately, there has been no clarity on when and if the officials will be clearing this Indian-made vaccine for coronavirus disease for people to use in Canada.

On Thursday, the agency took to Twitter to share its views about its approval for Covaxin. The agency wrote that the decision will be made once all the important and needed information is completely evaluated by Health Canada. Since the review meeting of the vaccine is going on, the possibility to predict the same and a regulatory decision to be made will take its due course of time.
Health Canada also stated that it conducts the reviews on vaccine applications based on an independent process and approves the products on the basis of scientific stringency and medical proof.
On the other news, Health Canada also stated that it has been reviewing the submission from Pfizer as an anti-viral treatment for COVID-19 on a priority basis and the submission for the same has been received just a few weeks back. One of the advisers of a news agency said that the decision for the drug to be made available for use will be taken in the next ten days.
