NHRC brings to notice over non-supply of mid-day meal to poor children

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has released notices to the Union HRD Ministry and the Bihar government sharing concerns over the difficulties faced by poor children due to no supply of mid-day meal in Bhagalpur.

Due to the extended coronavirus lockdown, many schools in the country are shut. And this has led to the poor health of needy children as they do not get mid-day meal.

Thus, poor children take up small jobs or indulge in small crimes to fill their stomachs and lead a living.

In future, the NHRC thinks that such children are more vulnerable to get into drug addiction and trafficking or get involved in anti-social activities, which is not good for their development.

Thus, NHRC has asked for a detailed report from the ministry and government within four weeks.

We hope that the pandemic comes to a closure soon as we cannot see such a bad plight of small children, who are the future of our nation.
