Jalore (Rajasthan): He was merely a child. So he was hardly familiar with the difference between the lower caste people and the upper caste people. By mistake, he touched a water pot meant for the upper caste people. For this reason, he had to endure the anger of his teacher who brutally battered him. As a result, he died at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The incident occurred at a private school in Surana village of Rajasthan’s Jalore district on July 20.

After being bashed up when the child slumped to the ground, he was rushed to the district hospital and as his conditions deteriorated, he was shifted to a hospital in Ahmedabad where he died.

A police officer said that a case of death of a student who was beaten up by a teacher in a private school in Surana village had been registered. The accused has been called for questioning, he said. Meanwhile, the state government announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the parents of the child. In a tweet, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the incident, saying that the teacher concerned has been arrested under various sections of the SC/ST Act.
