Gurugram (Haryana): At a time when the Central Government has launched “Ghar Ghar Tiranga,” thousands of farmers from Kasan, Mokalwas, Sehrawan and other villages blocked the national highway in Gurugram’s Panchgaon Chowk on Saturday. All of them carrying the national flags demanded more compensation for land acquired by the state government. The farmers stood on both sides of the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway blocking traffic. Many of them even squatted on the road.

The traffic blockade continued for more than an hour. The protesters said that the government did not stop acquiring their lands, although there was a court order against it. On getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. An official said that the protesters had stopped trucks, tractors and government buses. They said that the government had taken 1, 810 acres only for Rs 55 and Rs 90 lakh. The police detained several protesters.
