Lakhimpur-Kheri: Women are under constant attack in Uttar Pradesh. In the aftermath of two minor Dalit sisters being raped and murdered in Lakhimpur-Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, another woman was molested and attacked in the same area on Monday. The woman died at her home on Friday, the police said on Saturday. After the incident, a police outpost in charge was suspended for not registering a complaint against the culprits. Weapons were used to attack the woman who died. The administration suspended the police outpost in charge after a video clip of the incident, in which family members of the woman alleged that the police distorted the case, went viral on social media on Saturday.
There was communal tension in the village where the family members of the victim with some villagers staged a sit-in, demanding speedy justice. On getting information, additional superintendent of police Arun Kumatr Singh, deputy superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar and other officers rushed to the spot and quelled the angry villagers.
This was the fifth incident of rape in a row. A minor Dalit girl was violated and burnt in Pilibhit district. Similarly, a minor was raped in Ballia.
