Transfer of 20 doctors without replacement angers Dy CM

Lucknow: The transfer of 20 doctors from Balrampur Hospital, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital and Lok Bandhu Hospital in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, without any replacement has infuriated Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, sources said on Tuesday.

Pathak was particularly unhappy, because the transfers were made without any replacement that could hit the health services. An angry Pathak who holds the medical and health portfolio sought an explanation from the officers responsible for it.

Immediately after the transfers, he shot off a letter to the additional chief secretary (medical and health), Amit Mohan Prasad, asking him to state the reasons for transferring the doctors and to give a list containing the names of those had been shifted. Pathak said he came to know that 20 doctors had been shifted in compliance with the transfer policy but without providing any replacement.

According to his letter, “Since patients from across the state are referred to Lucknow, the need for specialists is more in the state capital. How will services run in such a situation and what has been done to ensure smooth functioning of hospitals?” He asked Prasad to prepared a list of doctors attached to various office and not directly involved in healthcare.
