Gonda (UP): A speeding car hit four children, three of whom died on the spot, and another suffered from serious injuries near the Chauri intersection in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning, the police said.
The injured child who is in a critical condition has been admitted to a hospital. When the accident occurred, the children were on their way to school. A senior police officer said that they were making efforts to trace the car which reportedly sped away towards Lucknow.
The colour of the car was black and it had the registration number of Delhi, the officer said, adding that the police have been alerted. A few eyewitnesses said that the car was at a high speed, and the driver could apply the brake when the vehicle neared the children who were crossing the road
