Uttar PradeshSakshi Maharaj justifies rewriting history

Date:

Unnao (Uttar Pradesh): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s statement that the past cannot be rewritten seems to have prompted Bharatiya Janata Party’s MP Sakshi Maharaj to say that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership new chapters are being added to history. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has also played an important role in it, he said.

Maharaj said that for the first time, it seems that India is India and her history is being rewritten. His statement, however, gives ‘credence’ to the opposition’s charge that the BJP is rewriting Indian history. He said that there is nothing wrong in removing an error. Maharaj said on Wednesday that the Left had influenced the history of India.

On the one hand, Kumar said that the past cannot be rewritten. On the other hand, Maharaj said that those who had been in power for 75 years betrayed history. Earlier, Maharaj said that the stone-pelting in Kanpur and other districts in Uttar Pradesh was done in a planned manner. Although the UP government’s action to tear down houses belonging to the members of a particular community has invited criticism from different corners, Maharaj said that if stones are pelted on Fridays, the bulldozers will run on Saturdays.
