Priests clash over money sharing in Ayodhya temple

Ayodhya: A dispute over sharing of money offered at Narsingh temple in Ayodhya triggered a clash between two groups of priests on Thursday, the police said. According to reports there was a blast-like noise which caused panic among the devotees who were present in the temple.

The dispute that began a couple of months ago between the temple Mahant and other priests over sharing of offerings in the temple led to a clash. A senior officer confirmed that there was a row over possession of the offerings made in the temple and the police detained those who were involved in the violent incident, but there was no explosion. The sounds were those of bursting crackers, which was done to create panic. An investigation into the case is going on.
