NationalBJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain moves SC in 2018 rape case

Date:

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain moved the Supreme Court on Thursday after the Delhi High Court asked the police to register an FIR against him in connection with an incident of rape in 2018. The apex court listed it for an urgent hearing, sources said. According to a senior lawyer, once an FIR is registered, the petition will be pointless. The lawyer further said that this would damage his reputation in his 30-year-old political career.

The Chief Justice of India will hear the case next week. The Delhi High Court dismissed his petition and asked the police to register an FIR against Hussain.
