Lucknow: The sleuths of the special task force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police have arrested an activist of Popular Front of India (PFI), official sources said on Monday. The activist identified as Abdul Majeed took part in anti-national activities and he provided tipoffs about many other members of the organisation. A few electronic equipment and some objectionable literatures linked with PFI have been seized from Majeed.
Majeed is a resident of Kakori in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, an STF official said, adding that activist had been arrested and released on bail. After being released on bail, Majeed started working for PFI. As soon as the STF came to know that he was in Vibhuti Khand area at Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, a team rushed to the spot and took Majeed into custody. According to the STF inspector, a case was registered against him. The PFI activist was expanding the network of the organisation for which he held meetings in Lucknow, Barabanki, Bahraich, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur, Saharanpur and other places across the state.
