Muzaffarnagar (UP): A minor girl from a village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh never knew that she had to pay with her life for refusing to marry her neighbour. For doing so, the 14-year-old Priyanshi was allegedly strangled to death, the police said on Monday.
In a complaint, the girl’s father said that Sonu Banjara has been pressuring Priyanshi for marrying him. Banjara also threatened his family with dire consequences, the complainant said.
The body of the girl, who went missing from her house in Hajipur village, was found in a sugarcane field in the same village on Sunday morning. According to senior superintendent of police Vinit Jaiswal, a case has been registered against the accused who has been taken into custody. The body of the girl was sent for post-mortem, he said.
