MG Motor India empowers women in sports; associates with athlete Rupal Chaudhary

Meerut, August 22 , 2022:  MG announced its association with Rupal Chaudhary, who became the first Indian athlete to win two medals at the World Athletics U20 Championships. The association aims to secure her education and further empower her future. At an event organized in MG Meerut, the player was felicitated in the presence of Mr Vashisht Garg, Director- Grand Vehicles Pvt Ltd and Mr Rajit Garg, Director- Grand Vehicles Pvt Ltd.

MG acknowledges her determination and unyielding mettle that brought laurel to the country. The carmaker will finance her education and provide education kits for her online studies. After the completion of her graduation, she will be given the opportunity to join MG as a Graduate Trainee. 

Rupal hails from a small village in UP’s Meerut district and comes from an agrarian family of modest means. She became the first Indian to win silver (in the 400m relay) and an individual bronze in World U-20 Athletics Championships 2022 held in Columbia.

According to Mr Yeshwinder Patial, Director – HR, MG Motor India, “Diversity and inclusion is at the core of our beliefs and it is important to provide opportunities to individuals who showcase potential just like Rupal. We are proud of her contribution to the country. She is an inspiration to many more emerging sports personalities and women at large, and as a brand we will continue to extend our support.”

Commenting on the partnership, Rupal said, “I am grateful that talent goes unnoticed by MG. I believe that each step in this journey will provide a foothold to many more girls and their families to take up their choices and pursue them unfettered.”

MG Motor has previously partnered with women sportspersons to assist them in reaching their goals. These include professional golfer Tvesa Malik, Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awardee Deepa Malik, India’s first silver medallist in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, Bhavina Patel, and the football revolutionist from Gujarat, Patan Girls. The British carmaker works continuously on women development and girl-child-focused community and diversity initiatives such as Drive Her Back, Womentorship, and providing dedicated hostels for its women employees: all intended to enable women to become the best version of themselves.
