Sambhal (UP): A man polished off his wife by slitting her throat in the Hayat Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district on Friday, the police said. The man with two other persons was arrested in connection with the murder. According to circle officer Jitendra Kumar the man identified as Salman hewed off the throat of his 25-year-old wife Sahiba in Khichdipur area under Hayat Nagar police station. He said that the body of the woman was found in her room in a pool of blood.

The parents of Sahiba alleged that Sahiba had been killed for her failure to bring more dowries. According to sources, both Salman and Sahiba tied the knot last year, but immediately after the wedding, her in-laws and her husband tortured her asking her to bring more dowries. The body of the woman was sent for post-mortem.
