Lucknow: Hours before his daughter’s wedding, a 58-year-old man committed suicide, as he was humiliated for consuming alcohol, the police said.
The man Sunil Kumar Kumar Dwivedi was found hanging from the ceiling of his house. He committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in Tikrasani village in the Mohanlalganj area, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The incident came to light after some of his relatives entered the room and found his body hanging. According to his son Ankur, Sunil was alcoholic and his kin were opposed to it.
On Saturday night, as he returned home, he began to hurl abuses at his relatives who were there to attend the wedding ceremony of his daughter. His conduct insulted some of his relatives who took him to task for consuming alcohol on such an occasion. Perhaps, failing to endure the insults, he committed suicide, the police said, adding that his body was sent for post-mortem and an inquiry into the case has begun.
