The incident occurred when the 21-year-old son tried to broker peace between his parents who were locked in heated arguments. The ex-army man, who flew off the handle for his son’s attempts to interfere in their fight, picked up his licensed gun and pumped bullets into his son’s body. Immediately after committing the crime, he cremated his son’s body. The incident came to light after his wife lodged a complaint at the police station. The ex-army man has been arrested.

Hathras (UP): An ex-army man has allegedly shot his 21-year-old son dead for trying to intervene in a fight between his parents at their house in Ghuncha village under the Sadabad police station in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, official sources said on Wednesday.

The youth was also preparing to join the Indian Army, his family members said, adding that his parents often fought over petty issues. On the fateful day, there was a heated argument between his parents, and just as he tried to intervene, the man who flew off the handle picked up his licensed gun and shot his son dead.

Immediately after the incident, the ex-army man cremated his son’s body. He even did not say anything to the police about what had happened in his family. The wife of the ex-army man lodged a complaint at the police station.

On getting a complaint, the police gathered the remains of the body from the pyre and sent it for DNA test. According to station house officer of Sadabad area of Hathras, Ashish Kumar Singh, the police arrested the accused and confiscated the weapon. He further said that action would be taken against the guilty after an investigation.
