Aligarh (UP): Eight people shot dead a 24-year-old army jawan at Rasoolpur village under the Tappal police station in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The Army man came home to celebrate Diwali, the police said on Wednesday. According to reports, the army man Bikan Kumar had allegedly had an affair with the wife of one of the murderers.
When Kumar and his uncle were on their way to Aligarh in a car, eight people including the husband of Kumar’s alleged lover attacked them with sticks and sharp-edged weapons. One of them whipped out a gun and shot Kumar dead.
According to Kumar’s father Janata Singh, his son and the wife one of the murderers, Vijaypal, were in a relationship. Vijaypal, his brother Bablu and six other members of his family murdered Kumar. The family of Kumar lodged a complaint at the Tappal police station.
Three accused have been arrested, the police said, adding that Vijaypal was absconding, but he would soon fall into the police dragnet. According to senior superintendent of police Kalanidhi Naithani, one of the murderers identified as Vijaypal shot Kumar dead for Kumar’s alleged relationship with Vijaipal’s wife.
