Aligarh (UP): More than 12 people fell unconscious after gas leak at a meat factory in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, the police said.

As soon as gas began to leak from the cylinder in the factory, dozens of men and women fell ill. On getting information police and a medical team of the district administration rushed to the spot and evacuated the factory. Chaos prevailed everywhere in the factory, but because of the police and the team of the district administration the situation returned to normal.

Those who fell were rushed to JN Hospital hospital where their conditions were stated to be normal, the police said, adding that the incident took place at Al-Dua meat factory, belonging to Haji Zaheer.

The police have yet to ascertain the reasons for the cause of gas leak.  A probe into the case has begun.
