Date:

Lucknow: A 2005-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre Sreenivasulu has sought voluntary retirement from service. The officer was on inter-cadre deputation to his home state Andhra Pradesh from January 2016 to July 2022, sources said on Friday. Sreenivasulu is the fifth officer to seek voluntary retirement in the past one month.

The officer returned to the parent cadre, Uttar Pradesh, in July this year. He was posted as special secretary (finance) on July 29. He was transferred to the revenue department in the same capacity on September 6. Before Sreenivasulu, a 2008-batch IAS officer Vidhya Bhusan, posted to Purvfanchal Vidhus Vitaran Nigam, sought retirement on September 5.

President of UP IAS Association RK Tiwari said that opting for voluntary retirement is not limited to UP and that several IAS officers have taken voluntary retirement in other states, too. It is a personal choice of an officer to take voluntary retirement. An officer of the appointment department said the applications for voluntary retirement of Juthika Patankar and Vikas Gothalwal had been approved. The applications of the remaining three officers would soon be cleared.
