Aligarh: A cricket match kicked up a row that led to critical injuries to a B Tech civil engineering student of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), the police said on Friday. The student, a native of Kashmir, was hit on the head with a bat after a tiff with another player.
The injured student has been identified as Sajid Hasan and his attacker as Shobit Singh, a student of B Tech (electrical).
Shobit hit Hasan with a bat on the university campus and teachers and students rushed him to the AMU medical college. According to station house officer of Civil Lines police station Pravesh Rana, the police have registered a case against the attacker on the ground of a complaint by the injured student and further investigation is on.
According to reports, Hasan is in a critical condition and the blocked the centenary gate of the campus after the incident, demanding immediate rustication of the attacker.
The students have been asked to lift the blockade and the attacker has been suspended, an official said.
