Uttar PradeshMaya tears into Adityanath govt for using bulldozers against minorities

Date:

Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party is creating an atmosphere of fear among the minorities by tearing down their houses with bulldozers, said Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Monday and urged the judiciary to take cognisance of such illegal acts. Mayawati who has so far kept on the issue has openly supported minorities for the first time. She came down heavily on the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath for taking action only against the minority community in Prayagraj and other places for allegedly involving in arson and rioting during a protest against comments on the Prophet.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Mayawati wrote: “By targeting a particular community, by bulldozing their homes and other malicious aggressive actions, the state government is suppressing the citizens’ right to protest and creating an atmosphere of fear and terror, which is unfair and unjust. The courts must take cognizance of the faulty action of targeting the entire family by demolishing their houses.”

While the root cause of the problem is Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal whose comments earned a bad name for the country across the world and led to widespread violence, she said.“Then why action was not taken against them and why the government ridiculed the rule of law? The government not sending both the accused to jail is grossly biased and unfortunate?” she wrote. The BSP leader demanded immediate arrest of Sharma and Jindal.
