Meerut (UP): The people of the Tyagi community condemned the police action against the family members of Shrikant Tyagi on Tuesday. The self-proclaimed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tyagi’s house was demolished in Noida on Monday. The police searched for him as he ran away after misbehaving with a woman following a dispute over encroachment.

The police arrested him from Meerut. Immediately after his arrest, the members of the Tyagi community held a meeting and criticised the police for harassing his family members. They said that although Shrikant Tyagi was an offender, the police picked up his wife Anu without any reason or without fulfilling any legal formalities. They said that the media had blown the case out of proportion.
