India’s response to UN chief expressing concern over Kashmir’s situation

New Delhi: After UN chief Antonio Guterres commented on Jammu and Kashmir, India said that the region is and will remain an integral part of India and the issue that needs attention the most is illegal by Pakistan and Resolving forcibly occupied territory. In fact, Guterres, who arrived on a four-day visit to Pakistan, has offered to mediate between the two countries over Jammu and Kashmir.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said that no third party mediation has any role on the Kashmir issue. The remarks from India came after the remarks of UN Secretary-General Guterres in which he expressed concern over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Guterres, who is visiting Pakistan, said he is ready to mediate if both countries agree.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman said, “India’s position has not changed. Jammu Kashmir was, and will remain an integral part of India. The issue that needs attention is to resolve the illegal and forcibly occupied territory by Pakistan. “If there is any issue ahead of that, it will be discussed bilaterally.” There is no role or scope for third party arbitration. “

Guterres is currently on a four-day visit to Pakistan. After meeting Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad, Guterres expressed “deep concern” during the press conference on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the ongoing tension along the Line of Control. The United Nations Secretary-General said that it was important for India and Pakistan to both reduce military tensions in the region and exercise “greater restraint” on the Kashmir issue.
