Shahjahanpur (UP): A man carrying his ailing mother on a handcart for more than four kilometres to reach a community health centre in the Jalalabad area of Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district has portrayed the state of health facilities in the state. The 65-year-old woman Bina Devi died on the way to hospital on Wednesday. Despite his best efforts the 45-year-old man Dinesh could find an ambulance to take his mother to the community health centre, sources said.

According to reports, the elderly woman developed acute stomach pain early in the morning. Dinesh tried to call an ambulance, but after waiting for a long time, when it was not available and his mother’s condition deteriorated, he decided to take her to a nearby community health centre on a handcart. After he reached the health centre, a doctor checked the woman and declared her ‘brought dead’.
