Pilibhit (UP): A group of youngsters battered a 40-year-old farmer to death when he tried to stop them from molesting his two teenage daughters. The incident took place in Madhavpur village under Amaria police station in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh on June 16, the farmer died after three days of the attack, the police said on Monday.
Six of the neighbours of the farmer including five aged from 18 to 15 years have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the police said. Inspector (crime) at Amaria police station Manish Kumar said that the man had been killed because he protested against some local eve-teasers and tried to protect his daughters from them.

The farmer who sustained severe injuries was rushed to the district hospital where he died, he said. In a written complaint, the victim’s wife stated that five men whom she identified as Bhoora, Sohel, Munna, Rehan, and Imram live near her house and used to regularly pass lewd remarks and make obscene gestures at her daughters. Her husband subsequently took it up with the boys’ fathers who, she alleged, completely ignored the matter.
On June 16, the man was attacked by the accused who first abused him and then repeatedly punched and kicked him, the woman said in the complaint. The Man was rushed to the district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
