Girl hangs self in hostel room of Shakuntala Misra University

Lucknow: Fed up with the alleged harassment by some teachers, a student of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University in the state capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her hostel room on Saturday, sources said on Sunday. She demanded action against the teachers responsible for harassing her.

Anjali Yadav, a student of B. Ed special education, was found hanging from the ceiling of her hostel room. Immediately after the incident, the university students launched a protest that continued till Sunday. The students said that a few teachers used to harass her and demanded a probe into the incident. According to assistant commissioner of police of Kakori Ashutosh Kumar, the body was sent for a post-mortem and an investigation into the case has begun. Nevertheless, the girl’s family has yet to submit any complaint about the issue.
