Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh): Five persons died and three sustained severe injuries as a truck hit an e-rickshaw on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj road in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning, the police said. The injured were referred to Lucknow for treatment.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 10 am when a truck coming from Prayagraj rammed into the e-rickshaw that was going towards Anrod village area in Kotwali Dehat with eight passengers. Superintendent of police Somen Barma said that on hearing a huge explosion-like sound, locals rushed to the spot and helped the police to take out the bodies from the e-rickshaw which turned into scrape. On getting information, the police rushed to the site of the accident and used a gas cutter to pull out five bodies from the mangled vehicle.
