Mathura: The UP government may claim that it has controlled the incidents of crime, but there is no end in sight to such incidents as chill one’s blood. In the past fortnight, two elderly couples have been murdered and a 14-year-old girl was shot dead. But the police have yet to lay their hands on the criminals.
Another case has come to light. A 30-year-old Dalit woman was gang-raped at Kosi Kala in Mathura district nearly two months ago. After gang-raping her, the violators crushed her legs under a bike. As a result, she developed an infection in her left leg that had to be amputated. The incident came to light after the family members of the woman lodged a complaint at the police station.

The station house officer (SHO) of Kosi Kalan police station, Anuj Kumar, said two of the accused had been arrested and the other remained unidentified. The woman claimed that on May 24 when she was going to Kosi Kalan from her village to withdraw money from a bank, one of the three accused, who was from her village, offered her a lift on his bike. On the way, he called two of his friends, who then forced her to swallow a drink laced with some intoxicant, and as she lost her senses, they raped her one by one. They also crushed her legs under a motorcycle. They left her near a railway track. When the railway saw her lying in an unconscious state, they informed her family.
The woman had been sent to a government hospital in Kosi Kalan from where the doctors referred her to the Mathura district hospital. Her left leg that developed infection had to be amputated at a hospital in Haryana.
