Lucknow: Ex-minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati is in jail. Akhilesh Yadav fielded his wife Maharaji Devi against, Maharaj of Amethi, Dr. Sanjay Singh, she won. Now Akhilesh has again fielded Gayatri’s daughter-in-law Shilpa, for the upper house. The time will decide, that if she would be able to represent the house, but it is sure for the time that Akhilesh has faith in Gayatri.

After the legislative assembly polls, now it is turn for the upper house. 36 members to be elected from the quota of local bodies. Usually it is said to be the ruling party is in upper hands, but Samajwadi Party doesn’t want to let it go easily. It has fielded the candidates in a proper way. The most interesting part is that he has shown faith on Gayatri Prasad Prajapati again from the seat of Sultanpur local bodies. Shilpa is wife of Gayatri’s son Anil. according to the affidavit filed by Shilpa, she is crorepati by asset.

Tears of Maharaji made the road to victory

In the assembly polls, Maharaji Devi was contesting against Dr. Sanjay Singh, King of Amethi, who had served as central minister. During the campaign the tears of Maharaji melted the heart of the people and they voted for her. Maharaji was able to convince people that her husband, Gayatri, is innocent, it is only politics, for which he is in jail. She was saying to the voters that for helping her husband, she must have to reach assembly. Now it is a turn for Shilpa to convince people.

Once Mulayam said, Gayatri is like my son

Gayatri contested for the first time in 1993, as an independent candidate from Amethi. At that time, he lost and could manage just, 1526 votes. In 1996, he was able to get the ticket from SP, but again he lost to Ram Harsh Singh of Congress. Gayatri was on third position in that election. Inspite of defeat, Gayatri again got ticket of SP in 2002 and that time, then SP chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav did a rally for Gayatri and said that, Gayatri is like a son to him and people must try in favaour of Gayatri. Though Mulayam appealed for Gayatri, but again he lost. In 2007 Gayatri wasn’t able to get the ticket from SP but he managed to get in 2012 and at that time he became victorious.

In 2017, he lost in close contest to Garima Singh of BJP. SP showed faith in Gayatri’s wife Maharaji in 2022, and she managed to win the seat for the party.
